❤️ Why You'll Love This Pasta Recipe

  • Dinner in under an hour. It doesn't get much easier than this! Add a few ingredients to a dish, bake, and stir in pasta.
  • Famously flavorful. This recipe went viral on Tiktok a few months ago - and with good reason. It's loaded with flavor and is so simple to make.
  • Get your dose of veggies. You're going to get a great blend of fresh veggies and creamy, comforting pasta in this dish. It has tomatoes, spinach, basil, and herbs to give it a ton of brightness and flavor.

🍝 Ingredients

ingredients for tik tok cheese pasta.
  • 2 packs (10.4 oz) of Boursin Garlic & Herb Cheese - There are other flavors of Boursin out there, but this flavor combo is a) the most widely available and b) works best with the flavor profile we're going for.
  • 20 ounces of grape or cherry tomatoes - Make sure these are washed & dried (important!) before adding to your baking dish. Adding wet tomatoes will mean they don't blister as well, taking away from the flavor depth.
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil - Any oil works; avocado oil, canola oil, or even vegetable oil can be used instead.
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of black pepper
  • 2 cups of fresh spinach - We'll use the warm pasta sauce to slightly wilt the spinach at the end of cooking. It's better if you leave a little crunch!
  • 12 oz of penne pasta - I prefer penne for this (it soaks up that sauce beautifully), but any pasta under the sun works. I've seen ziti, rotini, and even fettuccine used for this dish.
  • ½ cup of fresh basil - Basil is totally optional, but I think it really adds to the flavor depth.

Additions & Substitutions

  • You'll sometimes see feta cheese used instead of Boursin in this recipe. That works too if you have it on hand! With the feta, you'll need to add the garlic and herbs to give the sauce flavor. I also think the Boursin makes it creamier.
  • You can also use cream cheese if Boursin isn't available at your store. Again, you'll need to add garlic and herbs to the dish when using plain cream cheese. Flavored cream cheese works too!
  • Give the sauce a little bit of heat by adding 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes. 🔥
  • Add any kind of meat you'd like to this dish. One great option for a protein is adding the meat of 1 rotisserie chicken to the sauce. You can also add about a pound of sauteed shrimp.
  • Top your servings of pasta with grated parmesan cheese.
  • Big garlic fan? Add 3-4 fresh garlic cloves before cooking the tomatoes; they will roast right along with the rest of the sauce and add a bunch of garlicy flavor.

❄️ Leftovers & Storage

I recommend storing your leftover pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator. This one is best when enjoyed within 3-4 days of originally making it.

To reheat: Reheat single servings in the microwave for about a minute. Stir and add 30 seconds if needed.

To freeze: I wouldn't mix the pasta in before freezing; follow all other steps and freeze the sauce in a freezer bag for up to 4 months. When you're ready to enjoy it again, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and mix warmed sauce with pasta right before serving.

💡 Helpful Tips & Tricks

  • When cooking the pasta, reserve about a cup of pasta water before draining the pot. After mixing the pasta into the sauce, use this pasta water to thin the sauce if needed.
  • Pairings: if you need a simple side item, go with a light salad or garlic bread to accent this dish.

Easy to make and tastes amazing. I only use one container of the boys and cheese didn’t read recipe right but it was still cheesy and saucy enough next time I will use two. My boyfriend came over for dinner and he loved it as much as I did.
