This post shows how to make a DIY Stove Splash Guard - perfect for keeping kitchens clean! This mat covers a gas stove to protect the stainless steel from spills and splashes.
To start, clean your stovetop thoroughly. Use a damp melamine sponge with a vinegar and water mixture to scrub off cooked-on food. Wipe everything clean with an e-cloth stove cloth to remove remaining stains and polish the surface.
Roll out your oven liner material across the width of the stovetop. Mark your cut line, allowing a little extra room to adjust later. A paper cutter can help create a straight edge.
Cut the general shape of the liner. If your stovetop has a front area for the knobs, trim around this section with scissors. Round the edges for a finished look.
Find the center of each burner and mark it with a chalk marker. Measure the diameter of each burner, then cut circular holes about ½ inch larger than the burners. Use a circle cutter or scissors carefully, avoiding bending the material too much. Check the fit before cutting additional holes.
If you want extra liners, trace around your finished mat onto a new piece of liner material. Use binder clips to hold the layers in place, then mark and cut out the second mat.
