My Evening Routine

As a mom to two young children, I absolutely thrive on a routine.  We have scheduled nap times, sleep schedules (that work better some days than others), and morning checklists that just make our lives so much easier.

And that definitely extends to even after I put the babies to bed at night.  My bedtime routine is one of my favorite parts of the day.  It's the time when I get to have a little bit of "me time" and unwind.
Before Jackson was born, I had a little bit more time each night to spend with Noah and dedicate to the things I might want to do, but I still make it a priority to set aside some time each evening for myself.  As a mom (especially to a newborn), it's so important to take at least a little bit out of the day for a little bit of self-care.  Remember moms, we have to take care of ourselves (mind, body, and spirit) before we can take care of our family.  My nighttime routine is definitely part of that for me!

It's basically the same each and every night.  After Noah and I put the babies down, I usually check my email and social media for maybe 15 minutes.  Then, the computer/phone usually gets put away and Noah and I spend an hour or two together.  Most of the time we're doing something as boring as cleaning the kitchen, or catching up on our latest Netflix binge...just everyday things, but it's time with him that I love.  Jackson's usually up toward the end of the evening, but I normally can get in at least an hour or two of R&R each night.

Usually, while we watch TV, I love to cross-stitch.  It's a great way to clear your mind from the day and give yourself a little bit of thinking time (I can't be the only one out there that needs that every day).  It gives me a chance to process the day while I actually create something!  I kind of equate it to the adult coloring book trend right now...if you're into that, you'll understand why I love it so much.

Here's my current project...Jackson's stocking.  (If you read my Christmas decorating post, you probably saw the other stockings I've completed too.)  It's a work in progress, but I'm hoping to have it done by this Christmas!  After that, I'll be done with all of the family stockings, so maybe a tree skirt?  I'm getting a little ambitious with that one. :)

A few years ago, I became absolutely obsessed with having a cup of tea after I put Emmie to bed.  It's something I have almost every single night.  The flavor and type might change a little with the seasons, but something about that cup of tea just calms me down after being on the go all day.  I love experimenting with new flavors and types (decaf in the evening, of course...I don't need another reason to be up all night right now).

I've tried several of the teas in Lipton's new black and herbal varieties, and I've been so impressed!  Lipton offers a great selection of bold and stimulating flavors for any need.  I'm personally a fan of the Herbal Tea line...fruity flavored teas are my favorite, and Lipton offers several great varieties of herbal tea for the fruity-flavored fan, including Apple Cinnamon, Berry Hibiscus, and Peach Mango.  I also love that these teas use real ingredients to enhance the fresh flavors in the line.

But, if you've got different needs in the tea department, Lipton has you covered, too!  I'm actually drinking their Enticing Chai as I write this comforting and refreshing at the same time.  It has a great mix of bold ginger and cinnamon flavor and is perfect with a little bit of Stevia and Half and Half.  And Noah's a big fan of their Cranberry Pomegranate Green Tea.  It's such an uplifting variety that has just the right amount of fruity flavor to accompany the bright, clear flavor of the tea!

No matter the time of day, Lipton teas really do create an exciting and uplifting tea-drinking experience!  You can check out the full line of Black, Green, and Herbal Lipton tea flavors here.
