Sesame Street, From One Generation to Another

*Note to all of my Create It Thursday-ers out there...this week's link-up will be going live tomorrow morning at 9am central time!

Growing up, one of my absolute favorite shows to watch was Sesame Street.  I can still remember huddling in front of my grandmother's TV set to watch it when I was maybe 3 or 4.  The funny characters, the vibrant colors, and (most importantly) the academic and life lessons absolutely drew me in.  I couldn't tell you how much I learned about life from this one television show.

I love that my fond memories of Sesame Street are now being shared with Emmie.  Just like her mommy, she absolutely loves (the slightly newer version of) Sesame Street.  Many of the characters I remember are still there - including my beloved Big Bird.  But, if you've watched the show recently, you know that there are many new additions to the line-up.  Emmie's personal favorite is Abby Cadabby (trust me, I'm going to hear about it if an episode ends without an "Abby's Flying Fairy School" segment), but she still loves the classic players...she's a huge Cookie Monster fan, as well as everybody's favorite, Elmo.

In addition to the show being a little fresher, the viewing locations have been freshened up as well. Did you know that, in the next couple of months, you can start viewing the newest episodes of Sesame Street on HBO?  The latest and greatest episodes will air on HBO, HBO NOW, and HBO GO beginning January 16th.  You can still catch Sesame Street on your old favorite channels... this is just a fresh, new way to view everybody's favorite children's show!

Classic treasures grow and evolve over time...that's just part of life.  I love that Sesame Street is taking this growth in stride by not changing from the classic show we all know and love from our childhoods.  It's still the same engaging, incredibly educational show with a few fun new twists!

You can find more information about Sesame Street's additional viewing options at the HBO Kids site or Sesame Street's website.  You can also check out Sesame Street on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.  Find HBO on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as well!
