Our Casual Christmas

Some of my favorite holiday memories aren't those when I was dressed to the nines.  Sure, those times make for nice pictures, but nope...my favorite holiday memories are the casual ones.

When I was younger, we always had a more casual Christmas Eve.  The whole family would gather at my grandparents' house to have dinner and open presents from each other.  I always looked forward to that night - not only did I love the anticipation of Christmas as a child, but I loved that we could all be together at such a special time of the year.  It didn't matter how dressed up we were.  What mattered is that we were all together and enjoying spending time with each other.

These are the kinds of memories I'm hoping to give Emma Ramey.  Not just the fancy, dressed-up memories...those are nice too, but most importantly, I want her to remember the special times with her family.

We are all about casual Christmases in our little family too.  Of course I have a couple of nice Christmas outfits for her, mainly for church and a Santa visit or two.  But, barring a few photo ops, we're going casual this year.  I like to make sure she's comfortable enough to concentrate on the time with family.

I think you can be festive at Christmas without necessarily having to wear red and green.  In case you've been living under a rock for the past year, Frozen is huge right now. :) Isn't this shirt from Macy's adorable?  Emma Ramey was in love with it from the minute I showed her.  It's got a little bit of a holiday feel without being "in your face" Christmas.  Plus it's so warm and comfortable for cold weather!

And jeans are an absolute staple for our casual Christmas events.  Emmie's wearing these jeans from Macy's.  They're thick and durable (a must for my wild child) and are available at a great price!  I see us getting lots and lots of wear out of them even beyond the holidays.

When Emmie thinks back on her memories of the holidays as a child, I want her to remember the fun of being with those that love her.  That's what's most important to me during the holidays, and I hope I can pass that on to her!
