One Quick, Easy Way to Cut Your Grocery Budget

Noah and I have really been trying to stick to a budget lately.  Now that he's been at his job for almost a year, we really have a good idea of what he'll be making each month - and that allows us to map out  our expenses, needs, and wants.  It's really pretty empowering to have control over your finances and know that you're not only looking out for your present, but your future as well.

One of the areas that's honestly been kind of tough for me is the grocery budget.  Many of you know that I was a big believer in couponing when we lived in Alabama.  Well, I haven't been able to get into a great groove with using them since we moved.  So, I've started looking at other ways to shave down the budget.

One of the easiest ways to cut down in this area is using great store brands.  Anytime I can use a store brand that's just as high-quality as the name brand (if not better), I definitely jump on it.

I have always had such a high opinion of Target's up&up brand items.  I've blogged about these several times before - using this line is a great way to quickly shave that budget down and know you're still getting high-quality, useful products.  up&up products range from baby items to cleaning products...they even have beauty items.  These products help you save by paying less than the major brands but still getting a comparable situation!

One up & up product that has been an absolute must around here lately are their Fresh-Scent Disinfecting Wipes.  These kill 99.9% of bacteria in 15 seconds or less on surfaces like tubs, showers, kitchen counters, and toys.  These have been especially useful for cleaning up quick messes when I don't have time to pull out every cleaning supply in the house.  Just grab a wipe from the easily dispensing pack and go!  They're bleach free, so there's no worry of damaging non-porous surfaces, but they compare to the efficacy of Clorox wipes - just for less money!

I've also fallen in love with their Lemon Furniture Polish.  Let me tell you - this beats the heck out of the vinegar/water that I've been using to clean my wood furniture.  It has an amazing scent and gets rid of dust and allergens on furniture, while giving it a great, protective shine.  I use it a lot on wood, but it's great on marble, granite, and stainless steel too.  If I was given a test with no names on the cans, I honestly don't think I could tell the difference in this and Lemon Clean Pledge.

You can find these and many, many other great up&up items at your local Target!
