Hair Essentials - Save or Splurge?

A few months ago, I did a post on whether to save or splurge on makeup essentials.  I actually had so much fun putting it together, so I thought I'd add another post to the series - hair essentials!

I feel like I've tried every hair care line under the sun - cheap or expensive.  Some of the cheap ones are underrated, while some of the expensive ones are overrated.  Here are some of my favorite hair care products!

Shampoo/Conditioner - Save Of all the shampoo/conditioner lines I've ever tried, I always seem to go back to Pantene Volumizing products.  Nothing ever makes my hair as soft or manageable!  I do like to change up the shampoos I use with every bottle though.  It seems like, if I use a line for too long, it kind of loses its punch.  But Pantene products are definitely always in that rotation!

Leave-In Conditioner - Splurge Years ago, my hairdresser got me hooked on Redken Anti-Snap leave in conditioner.  It smells absolutely incredible, and it's one of the only things I've ever used that keeps my very fine hair from tangling when it gets long.

Heat Protectant - Splurge (but Save) Ok, this is one of my cheats in the hair department.  I absolutely love Chi 44 Iron Guard Spray Protectant…but it's pricey.  Did y'all know that Sally Hansen has a line of generic products that are basically knock-offs of the most popular expensive hair items?  It's awesome!  They used to make my Anti-Snap, but quit carrying it…I was a little devastated.  But they do make a knock-off Chi 44.  Give it a try - I love it!

Hair Spray - Save The best, and I mean THE best hair spray in the world, is Freeze It.  Don't get all fancy with it - the original kind (in the gold bottle with the purple writing) is the best.  Just trust me on this one.  I know Walmart carries it, and sometimes you can find it at drugstores.

Dry Shampoo - Save A few weeks ago, I wrote a post asking what the best dry shampoos were for dark hair.  A few people suggested Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo - and it is SO good!  Love it. It smells great and it works.  You can't beat the price either!

Hair Straightener - Splurge The cheaper straighteners just haven't ever done it for me.  I've had a couple of straighteners that I've loved.  I had a Chi Turbo for a couple of years that I loved.  About 2 years ago, I got a Hanna Professional for a blog review, and that's the one I use to this day.  It's really quick to warm up and makes hair so smooth!

Curling Wand - Save I think I've mentioned before that I have a friend from high school that's "Youtube famous" now for doing beauty vlogs with her sister.  They do great tutorials and reviews on less expensive beauty items…they're really good at what they do!  They recommended a curling wand not long ago that I tried…and loved it!  Heats quickly and gets really hot, and it creates great loose curls.  It's only around $20!

Hair Dryer - Save  A few years ago, my Chi dryer went kaput.  In a pinch, I got on Amazon and quickly looked at reviews for the best inexpensive dryer I could find.  This one was the best reviewed - Baybliss Pro Ceramic Xtreme - and I couldn't be happier with it!  It dries so quickly (lots of power) and makes your hair so smooth.  I think I've had it for 3 years now, and it's just as good as the day I bought it.  I honestly like it more than the expensive Chi.  Highly recommended!

What have I missed?  What are your favorite hair products?
