Most people consider Labor Day weekend the last weekend of summer. But, we were the lucky ducks that got to stretch summer out one more week.
We had the chance to get one last summer beach trip in this past weekend. Things have been kind of crazy with us lately (I’ll explain in another post), so it was incredibly nice to get away for the weekend and have some family time!
We headed to Gulf Shores Friday night. The little stinker decided she didn’t want to sleep in the new environment…but was too tired to party with the big kids. Please note the cookie crumbs all over her face. She was definitely on vacation.
Saturday morning was spent at the pool. Emma Ramey had to sport her red swimsuit for her Crimson Tide! Alabama had a big game that afternoon, so we got our sun time in early.
Our condo had an AMAZING pool for kids…it was a walk-in that gradually got deeper, so even the babies could play in it. This was Emma Ramey’s spot just about every time she was in the pool.
She is SUCH a water baby now! She begged to go to the pool when we weren’t there all weekend. And I must say, she got a little brave…we had to keep her from getting into deep water all the time.
On Sunday, we ventured out to the beach. I was a little unsure what she would think of the sand and the water – she wasn’t big on it the last time we were there. But she had so much fun in the waves. I don’t think she quite understands them yet, but again, with the water…she’s obsessed.
She played in the sand most of the time we were there. Again, she doesn’t quite get it – we don’t have sand at home really. But she likes it. 🙂 She would scoop it into her pail and pour it back out over and over.
We did have a little bit of pool time Sunday too…again, sitting in her spot. 🙂
Sunday night, I attempted to get a few beach pictures of her.
Ok, number 1 – if you follow my on Twitter or Instagram, you might have seen that she took a tumble a week or so ago and has a cut on her head. So that’s big and apparent in the picture – I just couldn’t bear to photoshop it out…it adds character. 🙂 Number 2 – these were at sunset, and she was fading by this point. Number 3 – we had to walk past the pool to get to the beach, and she had a mini meltdown when she couldn’t get in the pool.
Despite all of that, I was able to get a few cute ones!
And just in case you’re wondering why she isn’t wearing a bow…
This happened a few times. I tried, I really did. She won.
I told her if she agreed to let me get a few good pictures, she could go back to the pool that night. Well I’m a woman of my word.
She did get in one last pool visit. And, of course, sat in her same spot. Girl is a creature of habit.
Our last weekend of summer was great!
