I can’t be the only one that struggles with this. With everything from managing bills to being at the doctor’s office on time, juggling it all can be tough stuff! And when you’re late, you can often cost yourself money in the process. But, fall is a great time to reinforce (or start) good habits with time/money management. Here are a few of my tips and tricks for handling it all…and making it look easy!
1. Your calendar is your best friend.
My computer/phone calendar has everything I need to do every day – anything from blog posts, to doctor’s appointments, to bill payments. I have it color-coded (because I’m just wired like that)…my design schedule, blog schedule, and home/personal schedule all have separate colors, so it’s super easy to glance at it and see what’s going on for a day.
What’s not on my calendar is on my to-do list. I have an app on my phone that syncs to my computer, so I pretty much always have access to it to add or check off items. I keep a list of items that need to be done each week…I star the ones that need to be done that day. Making my list for the week has become my Sunday night ritual. It works wonderfully!
2. Use the conveniences you have, especially when it comes to bills.
Time is money and money is time, so when a company is willing to give you extra benefits to save on both, take full advantage! Many credit card services have options for picking the day of the month that is most convenient for you to pay your bill. These companies also typically have text alerts and/or automatic bill pay available, so you are never are late on a bill payment. Use the services your company is giving you!
The Citi Simplicity card takes it a step further – they never charge late fees, a penalty rate, or annual fees. If you think about the fact that missed payment fees are typically between $15-35, that feature can really save you money over time. The benefits of a credit card, like Citi Simplicity, can be valuable in saving you time and money. For example, Citi Simplicity has a zero liability policy – so if someone uses your card (online or offline) without your consent, you won’t be held liable.
3. Don’t waste time doing things that are done for you.
We live in a world that holds a seemingly infinite number of shortcuts – and most of the time, there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of that to benefit your own personal schedule. I love the convenience of being able to look at my daily schedule, find the best deal on gas, and check out the best driving route to take in town all within 5 minutes and all from my phone…what an amazing world we live in!
Going back to my “time is money and money is time” statement above…here are some benefits of your Citi Simplicity card you can use to find a deal. Citi Easy Deals is a feature that gives you access to discounts on gift cards, travel, brand name merchandise, restaurants, and so much more – you can access on your PC or mobile phone.
Citi also has a feature called Price Rewind – if you buy and register an eligible item with your Citi credit card, Price Rewind will search retailers’ sites to find a lower price on that item for 30 calendar days after your purchase. Save your credit card receipt each time you shop. If Citi finds a price at least $25 less than what you paid, you can get the difference back, up to $250. The average refund is $80. That’s less time you have to spend finding the best deal!
We live in an era of so many conveniences – but we also live in an era that requires a little bit more life management sometimes. Getting a grip on life before it gets out of control is the easiest way to ensure that you stay at the top of your game!
