Selling the House

So we got to talking about selling our house while we were on vacation.  At first, the conversation started with "What if we just listed our house with the Make Me Move feature on Zillow, just to see if there's any interest?" (Meaning you're not really looking to sell, but if somebody's willing to pay a certain price, you will.)
And then from there, totally out of the blue, we decided to list our house on the market.  Scary, I know.
I know this comes as a surprise to a lot of our friends and family - we love our house.  Like, really, really love it.  It's perfect for us right now.  But, from our conversations, we decided that it isn't going to be perfect for us forever. So, we put it on the market, just to see what kind of interest is out there.  We feel like if we start this whole process casually, we can get the best price and not have to pay any unnecessary costs.

We don't really consider this serious selling - yet.  We don't have a realtor and we haven't put it on MLS...to be honest, we're not doing anything right now that requires us to pay for a service.  We're just listing it on the free websites, like Craigslist and Zillow, and on facebook to see what kind of interest it's getting.  We also have a website for it and a sign in the front yard.

Every time I walk past our living room and see the sign it catches me off guard...it's crazy to think where this might lead us!

We've had LOTS of questions about "Where will you go?" To be honest, we don't know.  We haven't gotten that far yet...I told you, this was completely out of the blue!  We own a condo in town that we use as a rental - the backup plan, if we sell quickly, is to move into that for a month or two while we get our act together.

So far we've had some interest.  We've shown it once, and have a few more requests to see it as of right now.  So we'll see how it goes!  We're excited and a little nervous about what this journey might bring.  There is absolutely no telling what will happen - that's the scary part.  But we both think it's what's best for our family in the long run.

Wish us luck!
