Pumpkin Spice Chess Cake Recipe

I am in love with anything pumpkin spice.     I am in love with chess cake.    So, naturally, I combined the two. :) And it was amazing!   

  Here's the recipe...   Pumpkin Spice Chess Cake   Ingredients:
1 box spice cake mix
1 egg
1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick, melted)

1 can pureed pumpkin
1 pack of cream cheese, softened
2 cups unpacked powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp melted butter
2 eggs

Directions:
Mix together the 1/2 cup butter, spice cake mix, and 1 egg.  Grease a 9 x 13 pan and spread this mixture in the bottom.

In another bowl, beat pumpkin, cream cheese, vanilla, 1/2 of the cinnamon, and butter together.  Beat eggs in a small bowl and mix them in.  Mix powdered sugar in just enough to incorporate well.

Pour this mixture on top of the spice cake mixture.  Sprinkle rest of cinnamon on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour (give or take 5 minutes depending on your oven).  Let cool for about 30 minutes (if you can wait :)).  Serve warm with whipped cream.

 

  The top was more of a pumpkin pie consistency...if you wanted more of a chess cake consistency, reduce the amount of pumpkin and up the amount of butter.   This would be great as a dessert for Thanksgiving (or Tuesday night if you're me).   Hope y'all enjoy!
