2011

What. A. Year. I don't think I knew how much happened this year until I started going through old blog posts.  It definitely had its ups and downs, but I'll look back on this year as the one that gave us our sweet baby!

-In January, we had a snow day and we decided to start fertility treatment for what we were sure (and had doctors tell us) was a fertility problem.

-In February, we found out we were not pregnant from our first round of treatment.  In addition, we discovered that the drugs had a really adverse effect on my body.  We had another snow day and Noah had the flu.

-In March, we decided to stay away from fertility treatments for a few months.  We loved on our sweet puppy, took an impromptu weekend trip to New Orleans, and found out we weren't pregnant again.  I had (what I believe) were some leftover adverse effects from Clomid.

-In April, our sweet niece Avery was born.  On April 15, the month's first round of tornadoes came through Tuscaloosa and hit my parents' house directly.  On April 27th, a much more devastating round came through and completely shook everyone in this town to our core.  Our city (last time I checked) had 50 confirmed deaths and millions upon millions of dollars of damage.  This month changed everything about living in this town for a very long time.  (Going back and reading about this month was very hard.)

-In May, Noah's brother graduated from Mississippi State.  We continued to deal with the after-effects of the tornado.  I went back to work on May 4th...much of the time before that was spent volunteering, as most other people in this city were doing.  I finally (almost a month later) sat down and wrote my recollection of that day.  My first due date came and went, my brother graduated from high school, we took a trip to Gulf Shores and another to New Orleans at the end of the month.

-In June, we went on a wonderful week-long vacation (part 1 and 2).  I went to a work conference at the end of the month, and we went out of town for Noah's birthday.

-(Then it gets interesting. :)) In July, we celebrated the Fourth with Noah's family.  This obviously isn't on the blog, but on the morning of July 6th, I took a pregnancy test that told me we were having a baby...and sat in the bathroom floor and cried, partly from happiness and partly from being scared to death. :)  We went back to Noah's hometown the next weekend to tell his parents in person.  After some very close monitoring for a few weeks, we saw our sweet girl (and her perfect heartbeat) for the first time at the end of this month!

-In August, I was pretty sick and very tired from the progesterone that I was taking to help me stay pregnant...very worth it, but not the most fun thing in the world.  I started school in the midst of this.  I was kind of sketchy quiet on the blog, mostly because I didn't want to spill the beans too early.  We finally told everyone after a healthy 11 week appointment!

-In September, we started planning the nursery.  I started feeling much better too!   And I had pink eye...gross. :)

-In October, we found out our sweet baby was not only healthy, but is a little girl!  We got to plan our baby registry and start buying lots and lots (and lots) of pink. :)

-In November, we had another great ultrasound that told us Emma Ramey was healthy as a horse. :) I discovered Pinterest, we started decorating for Christmas, and we celebrated Thanksgiving with the family.

-In December, I had my first experience with labor and delivery...thankfully, everything was (and is still) a-ok.  We got to see our little girl for the first and second time, celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary, and celebrated Christmas with family.

Something tells me next year is going to be even better! :)

29 Weeks

How IN THE WORLD is this going so fast?!  It seems like I just started the "20's", and this is my last week!  Crazy!

Size of Baby: According to Baby Center, about the size of a butternut squash...about 15 inches long (WOAH!), and around 2 1/2 pounds...I would guess bigger than that though.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Up around 12 pounds from pre-pregnancy.  And I had to share this - I have to wait until I'm off the scale to see what I weigh now... I can't see the screen because of my belly. :)

Maternity Clothes: I've been wearing a lot of pajama pants and big t-shirts around the house this week.  But in public, definitely maternity.

Gender: It's a GIRL!  Emma Ramey

Belly Button In/Out: A little flatter every week...

Stretch Marks: None!  I finally started using lotion every day this week (I know, I know, I was a slacker in this department)...hopefully that will help!

Movement: Girl is ALL over the place.  I finally realized that I can feel her rolling around this week.  And lots of hiccups too!  She's had them 2 or 3 times, and Noah got to feel them one time!

Sleep: Getting weird.  My dreams are off the scale crazy now, and wake me up a lot during the night (usually I'm mad or upset because something bad happened in the dream).  I just wish I could cut dreams off...I think I would sleep a lot better!

What I miss: Breathing this week...there are times I just can't get a good breath because she's sitting high!

What I am looking forward to: There's a lot in January!  We've got classes, the national championship, (and I think) showers...busy, busy!

Cravings/Aversions: I've noticed I can't eat quite as much.  I'll be really hungry, but will sit down to eat and only be able to get down a few bites before I'm full!  I've been thirsty a lot too.

Symptoms: Some Braxton Hicks (especially if I haven't had a lot of water that day or the day before), shortness of breath, and a VERY wiggly tummy. :)  I'm pretty sure I had my first experience with her sitting on a nerve Tuesday too...I was just fine, and then all of a sudden I had a really, really bad pain in my right hip...so much so that I couldn't even work through the pain.  It would hang around for about 15 minutes, then go away for a few minutes, then come back again.  This kept up for most of the afternoon.  Needless to say, that wasn't fun, but I finally found a comfortable position to lay down and put a heating pad on it, and it eventually stopped.

Best Moment This Week: Noah feeling the hiccups...he was excited about it. :)

Christmas 2011

We have been RUNNING for the past week, but it has definitely been worth it!

On Wednesday afternoon (the minute I got out of school), we headed for Noah's hometown of Hattiesburg, MS.  We had to do Christmas there a little early this year because of everybody's schedules.  It actually turned out great - in my opinion, it doesn't matter when you celebrate Christmas!

We got to spend some time with our sweet niece, Avery!  We've only gotten to be around her a few times since we live so far away from her.  She and Emma Ramey are going to be about a year apart...what a fun age gap! :)

The most fun part was watching her open presents!

I think this was after everybody started opening presents...there were that many.  Most were for the grandkids!  We were incredibly blessed!

There were a few cute matching gifts, including a copy of "100 Things It Means to be a Dad" for my brother-in-law and Noah, and a couple of cute matching outfits!  I foresee a lot of those in our future!

Poor Hardy...he's adjusting, slowly.  He got a bone as a Christmas present and carried it WHEREVER he went, kind of like he was telling everybody how that was his.  Little sister getting all of these presents didn't sit well with him!  He eventually buried it and did what he does best, went to sleep in a corner.  Sweet puppy. :)

On Saturday, we headed back to have Christmas with my family.  This is the "kids table" at Christmas lunch...everybody that wasn't at the kids table ended up being jealous, because we had so much fun talking and catching up!

We had actual Christmas with my family last night.  Here are all of the grandkids with my Granny!

And here is my immediate family!

It was a busy Christmas, but a very fun one...I have a feeling next year is going to be even better! :)

Merry Christmas from our (growing) family to your's!

28 Weeks

HELLO Third Trimester!  Please be as kind to me as the second one was. :)

Size of Baby: According to Baby Center, about the size of a Chinese cabbage...around 14.8 inches long and 2 1/4 pounds...but she's measuring a week ahead on the ultrasounds!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: As of Tuesday, I was up 11 pounds from pre-pregnancy

Maternity Clothes: Oh yeah, full-time...pajama pants and Noah's t-shirts around the house, but maternity besides that.  I'm loving the jeans still!

Gender: It's a GIRL!  Emma Ramey

Belly Button In/Out: Still almost flat, but still in.  And let me tell you (this is a little gross), if you've never seen the very inside of your belly button, it's WEIRD!

Stretch Marks: None still!  But my stomach has gotten a little "veiny" this week...once again, kind of gross, but they're all over!

Movement: Lots of flips, rolls, and kicks, especially in the afternoon and evening.  She has one particular spot towards the top of my stomach that she loves to kick...it can almost get sore at some points!  A fun game at our house has become "guess which body part is sticking out of my stomach." :)

Sleep: Needing more lately - I am loving an afternoon nap.  My dreams have been INCREDIBLY weird this week, which isn't letting me sleep very well.

What I miss: For a day or two I was missing the sweets, but I passed my glucose test with flying colors, so that's gone!

What I am looking forward to: Seeing what this sweet girl got for Christmas!

Cravings/Aversions: I prefer sweet over anything.  The meat aversion is back...in the past couple of days, I've picked over the meat on my plate.

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks (maybe once every couple of hours, especially if I haven't had a lot of water that day), sleepy, waddling...I'm loving it! :)

Best Moment This Week: Spending the first part of Christmas with family!

Sweet Cheeks, Take Two (And Doctor's Appointment)

Since Emma Ramey wasn't very cooperative for the last 4D ultrasound, we got another try at it today!

I think she did a great job!  She did want to keep that left arm up by her face...we kept joking that she's going to be a lefty like her momma. :)  But we got a few great shots, and she seems to be doing great!  Still measuring about a week ahead with her head measuring two weeks ahead...oh my. :)

The actual appointment was great too.  I PASSED my glucose test!  I had been sweating that one, since she's measuring so big.  But I passed with flying colors!  My iron was a little low, so I'm on supplements now.  And I'm measuring right at 28-29 weeks!

27 Weeks

Size of Baby: According to Baby Center, almost 2 pounds (even though we know she's probably more by now from the ultrasound) and about 14 1/2 inches long...about the size of a head of cauliflower

Total Weight Gain/Loss: (Believe it or not) Still only up about 8 pounds...I feel like I look like I've gained a lot more though!

Maternity Clothes: All the time...I'm very thankful my principal ok'd us wearing jeans until we're out for Christmas - I'm LOVING the maternity jeans right now!

Gender: It's a GIRL!  Emma Ramey

Belly Button In/Out: Still working its way out.  It's almost flat sometimes now!

Stretch Marks: None, thank goodness! But I've been very itchy...doesn't that mean your skin it stretching?

Movement: Mostly in the afternoon/evening/night, like last week.  And I for sure felt hiccups this week!  They kind of feel like mini thumps every few seconds, like when I first started feeling her, but I know they're hiccups because they come in regular intervals (every second or two).  Pretty cool!

Sleep: Ok...just can't get enough of it!

What I miss: Not much of anything!

What I am looking forward to: Being DONE with Christmas prep...it's fun to be pregnant during Christmas, but it's also exhausting!

Cravings/Aversions: I've wanted a lot of sweets...hoping my glucose test doesn't change that next week!

Symptoms: Still lots of Braxton Hicks, especially if I don't just chug water all day.  Kind of achy if I'm on my feet too much, lots of trips to the bathroom, itchy stomach.

Best Moment This Week: The hiccups were fun!

Christmas Decorations 2011

Welcome to the Christmas version of our home!

I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the outdoor decorations tonight, but they are exactly the same as last year...you can click here to see them!

Walking in our front door.  This is where we put all of our Christmas cards every year!

Our tree!  I always say I'm going to get a picture after I wrap the presents and I never do...glad I did it this year! :)

Going to need to add another stocking next year! :) (And yes, Hardy chewed the nose off of his stocking one year when we were putting decorations up...we just never bought him a new stocking...)

End tables...

On to the kitchen...

That is our first Christmas card picture...I've always loved that one!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Card 2011

I wish I could send a card to each and every one of you!  I have so much fun with this blog, and am so thankful that you are interested in my little life.  But 44 cents an envelope adds up...so you know... :)

We got these from Tiny Prints...I was SUPER happy with how they turned out!  I would highly recommend them.  They had a back design too that was similar to the front...no pictures on the back, but the same ornaments.  This is probably my favorite Christmas card we've ever done!

I should have our Christmas decorations post up by tomorrow!

26 Weeks

Size of Baby: According to Baby Center, the size of an English cucumber...14 inches and about a pound.  But she was almost 2 pounds at the ultrasound!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Up almost 8 pounds from pre-pregnancy

Maternity Clothes: Oh yeah...full time now.  I can still wear pajama pants and Noah's t-shirts around the house, but maternity clothes all the way in public.

Gender: It's a GIRL!  Emma Ramey

Belly Button In/Out: Still working its way out.  It stretches a little more every day!

Stretch Marks: None, thank goodness! I have a feeling they're coming though...my skin on my stomach has felt like it's stretched to its limit this week.

Movement: We're back to moving most of the night now.  She really gets going in the late afternoon and parties all night...I'm a really heavy sleeper, but Noah said every time he woke up last night he could feel her moving!

Sleep: Still on that weird sleep schedule.  Having some incredibly strange dreams, but beside that, good.

What I miss: Not much of anything!

What I am looking forward to: Christmas!

Cravings/Aversions: Still just wanting to eat everything in sight.

Symptoms: Minor pain here and there, Braxton Hicks like crazy...doctor assures me they're ok though.  Shortness of breath at times.

Best Moment This Week: Seeing that sweet face!

4 Years

Four years ago today, I married my best friend.

I am so lucky to have never doubted the decision I made that day.  There has not been one second of this marriage that I thought, "Man, I've made a mistake." Is marriage easy?  Not always.  Anybody that tells you it's always easy is lying to you.  There are fights, there are adjustments that have to be made, there are compromises.   Just like anything else that's worth doing, marriage is work.  But it's work that's worth it and then some.

As many of you might remember, this is also now the anniversary of our second miscarriage.  That's another thing about marriage - it's not always rainbows and kittens like the movies make it out to be.  It's life.  It's dealing with the good and the bad.  But I can't imagine another person on earth I'd rather deal with it with than this guy.

Happy Anniversary Noah...I love you more than you know!

Sweet Cheeks

We had our 4D ultrasound today!  Sorry these aren't the best pictures...our office was out of CD's, so they had to just give us a paper copy for now...so these are pictures of pictures.

She was SUPER squirmy!  She liked to put her hands over her face or turn around as soon as we got a good shot, so we couldn't really get a great one.  So we get another try at it in two weeks! :)

I thought we got some good ones today though...

A Not So Fun First

So Thursday night, I started having Braxton Hicks a little more frequently, and had some pain.  I took a warm bath and went to bed early, and was fine Friday morning when I woke up...so I didn't really think much about it.

I took it a little easier than normal Friday at work, but was still getting Braxton Hicks every time I stood up by the end of the day Friday.  They weren't painful, but you could definitely tell my stomach was getting tight.  After taking it easy all Friday night and Saturday (I'm talking not standing up unless absolutely necessary yesterday), I was still having them this morning.

After consulting Dr. Google, I realized I'm definitely not supposed to be having contractions this often at this point, even if they are painless.  So, we loaded up and headed to labor and delivery for the first time (and hopefully last before March!).

And I'm pretty sure I was in and out of there in record time!  We were only there for about an hour.  They hooked me up to the monitors, and in the probably 30-45 minutes I was there, I had (I think) 3 contractions when I was laying down.  They did all kinds of lab work on me and everything came back fine.  The doctor on call (not my doctor) just chalked it up to me probably being dehydrated...my pulse was up too, which can be a sign of that.

But the good (great) news is they contractions were doing nothing - they didn't put me in labor or progress me a bit!  So I don't really mind if I keep having them...they're a little annoying, but not painful.

So I'm resting and drinking a TON of water today...very thankful to be back home!

25 Weeks

Size of Baby: According to Baby Center, the size of a rutabega (I don't even know what that is...) - about 13 1/2 inches and about a pound and a half.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Up almost 6 pounds fromt pre-pregnancy now

Maternity Clothes: Pants are definitely required...I can wear pajama pants around the house still, but maternity pants only in public.  I might have a few shirts that I could still wear, but I've been wearing all maternity!  Although I still do have a few pairs of pants that are too big.

Gender: It's a GIRL!  Emma Ramey

Belly Button In/Out: Still in, but not by much!  It stretches out a little further every week.  I'm going to be an "outie" if it stretches out much more!

Stretch Marks: None, thank goodness!  Those weird varicose vein looking things on my belly are more prominent this week though.

Movement: She's been moving a lot more during the day this week...pretty much non-stop over the past two or three days!

Sleep: Really not bad, but I have been waking up super early again.

What I miss: I normally take showers and baths like scalding hot, and I can't do that right now.  This week, I'd really like a hot shower as cold as it's been!

What I am looking forward to: Our 4D ultrasound is Tuesday!

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing really, I just know it if I haven't eaten...it isn't pleasant! :)

Symptoms: Some pain last night...to the point where I had to take a warm bath to try to calm it down.  It scared me a little, but it's gone this morning, so I think it was just stretching.  I'll occasionally have a contraction, but nothing consistent and painless.

Best Moment This Week: Feeling her kick all day!
