Fun Money Saving (With Linky!)

There are a few things out right now that I'm LOVING!

-There's a new app I got on my phone a few days ago called CheckPoints.  You check in at random businesses (just about every business lets you check in) through the GPS on your phone.  Then, once you get to that place, you can scan the bar codes of various items throughout the store for more points!  Every 300 points you get is a $1 Amazon gift card...and the points are not hard to get at ALL (I got 200 just running by Rite-Aid today).  I know the iphone has this app, and I think I've heard that Android has it too...just check your app store, or click on the link above for iPhone users! (And if you wanted to put in the referral code lflambert to help earn your first dollar FREE, you wouldn't hurt my feelings. :))

-Today is Swagbucks' birthday.  If you did this for the last couple of years, you know they give out a TON of codes today.  You also get a 50 point bonus today if you sign up and put in the code 3rdBirthday130...just click here to sign up!  (I explain Swagbucks here if you are new to it.)

-I have discovered the beauty of buying coupons on ebay.  I heard their rules are about to change, but you can get a ton of coupons you might not have for super cheap! (Technically, they're not selling the coupon on ebay, that's illegal...they're selling their time to get the coupon for you.)  For example - there's a fabulous deal on Kibbles n' Bits dog food coming up at Publix where you can get a $5 bag for 50 cents each.  I bought 20 coupons on ebay for $7 or so, and Hardy will never run out of food!  That prevents you having to buy a ton of newspapers every week, and you can get coupons that aren't available in your region.

-Groupon, Groupon, Groupon!  I love this site all of a sudden.  They've been coming out with a ton of good deals in our area!  If you're from Tuscaloosa, can you say Chucks and Five (that's running today, if you want it!)?  Go here to check them out.

-While we're in the restaurant department, is another awesome site.  This isn't for every area, but they have half off gift certificates to a ton of awesome restaurants.  If you're local, they have Mellow Mushroom, sometimes they have Buffalo Wild Wings, and a ton more!

Bullet Points

Sometimes, the best way to express yourself is through the randomness of bullet points. :)

  • We had a GREAT weekend!  One of Noah's best friends had a birthday last week, so we went out of town to see him and some other college friends.  It was so much fun, but I am worn out now!  I didn't get very much work done this weekend (which I normally do), so I'm playing catch-up this week.  Worth it though!
  • We had a fun Valentine's day was just very low key.  I came home to a clean house, Godiva chocolate and tulips (my favorite), and enough money to get my car detailed...which I've wanted!  The old Trailblazer needs it. :)  We got Outback to go, and caught up on our DVR.  I wouldn't have had it any other way!
  • This is one WORN out teacher right now.  We had Valentine's fun yesterday, and a field trip to the McWane Center in Birmingham today.  Teachers, you know that field trips are fun, but there is NO kind of sleep like the kind you get a night after a field trip!  Now, if I can ever get caught up with everything, I'll get that good sleep tonight!
  • That virus that seems to be going around right now?  Noah's got it.  Right after dinner last night, Noah started saying his throat was hurting.  By the time we went to bed, he was sore from head to toe and had a 100 degree fever.  That went up to a 102 degree fever today.  Poor guy.  He's better now that I got him his cure-all (sweet tea) and something to eat!
It's a great (and busy) week!

PS - If you're a Publix shopper, they've got an awesome sale coming's stock up time!  I'll definitely have a grocery post later this week!

Snow Day 2011

One of my favorite, favorite things in this world is snow!  Of course, I live in central Alabama, so I don't get to see it that often...I think I like it so much because it's so rare (we want what we can't have)...ha!

You guys that are getting like 2 feet of snow are probably going to LAUGH at my measly little 2"...but we were proud of it!  We only get this much snow every couple of years.

It started right after dinner last was so pretty falling!  We usually get snow in the middle of the night, so getting to watch it fall is a rarity too.

It was really coming down for awhile!

This is what our street looked like when I woke up...I didn't expect it to still be around!  SO pretty!

I usually HATE the empty field by our house, but it was really pretty in the snow!

Hardy is definitely a southern dog...he isn't a snow fan.  He LOVED when we brought snowballs to him to eat, as long as we were inside.  But he would purposely step in the parts of the grass that had no snow when he had to go outside for bathroom time...haha!

This is where he spent the majority of his snow day. :)

We did have to go into work at 10, but I didn't mind...we're out of weather days, and would have had to make it up at the end of the thanks!  This is what my drive to work looked like (don't worry, I was at a stop).  So beautiful!

This has been a really, really great week.  I don't know, I've just felt extremely at peace, and I fully trust that God's got our situation under control.  I know this might not be our month (knowing my medical state right now, it's pretty unlikely that this is our month), but I just trust that God's going to take care of this!  That's a really, really good feeling...something I've been trying to achieve for awhile now.

And I'll admit, jealousy of women that don't have to go through this has been something I've struggled with lately.  (PLEASE don't take this the wrong way if you didn't struggle to get pregnant...I'm not mad at you, but the jealousy has been uncontrollable.)  It just feels like that has kind of lifted this week too.  I'm still working on it, but I finally feel like I can hear about a pregnancy/birth and not want to run and/or cry my eyes out.  That is SO huge for me...that's been one of the hardest parts of this!  And I am extremely thankful it's finally starting to get better now...we have a lot of family/friends that are due in the next couple of months, and I've been dreading going through that with these feelings.  Knowing that it's better is very comforting!

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:7

Plan D

If you know me in real well enough, you know I go stages when I find out bad news:

1.  Freak out
2.  Collect myself
3.  Get a plan for how to deal with it

So I did that this weekend.  I had my moment Friday and Saturday, got my junk together, and got a plan for how to deal with this situation.

I called the RE to get more info today.  I have a 4 cm cyst on one side and 5cm/2cm cysts on the other (y'all, if you don't know how big that is, go get a ruler...that is crazy!  No wonder I've been in pain.).  The good (great, excellent, awesome) news is we can try on our own this month!  I've heard of some couples having to completely take the month off (or even go on birth control to shrink the cysts), so I am very thankful for at least the chance.  I know cysts hurt our chances this month, but it's better than nothing!

All of my bloodwork looked great too...basically the only problem is the cysts.  So we've got something working for us here.

So here's my plan...

1.  I've read that going to more complex carbs and lean protein is a good idea for tackling I'm doing just that.  I'm not going completely gluten free or anything, but when I can, I'm sticking with whole wheats, and avoiding red meat.

2.  I'm working out again...5 days a week!  I've been a slacker in this department.  But I figure, it can't hurt my chances to have a healthy place for the baby to grow.

3.  I'm starting what Noah and I lovingly refer to as "the cocktail."  Meet "the cocktail":

That's one day's worth. :)  Now, before you just take this, PLEASE do your research and talk to your doctor...I've looked into this, and it seems like the best combination for me.  This is different for everybody.

The cocktail consists of...

100 mg Vitamin B6 (This helps correct luteal phase defects, which is why I was on the Clomid in the first place.  It also helps with morning sickness and reduces chance of miscarriage when you're pregnant.)  I'm upping it from my normal 50mg to offset the luteal phase problem this month.
1 Prenatal with DHA (this particular one comes in 2 separate pills...prenatals are a good idea for anyone even close to trying to get pregnant!)
1 Baby Aspirin (just for the first half of the cycle; this can help build your lining)
1 Red Raspberry Leaf Capsule (build your lining; just for the first half of the cycle)

(Not in there yet)
1 Green tea capsule (helps with lining; just for first half of cycle)
1 Zinc Supplement (helps with cysts)

The first month I took this combination was the first time I got pregnant; I started it again with the B6 and the prenatal in November, and lo and behold, got pregnant again.  So I really think it helps me, but like I said, not all of this is meant for please research these before trying this!

***Note: I only took 50mg of the B6 and the Prenatal/DHA when I was on Clomid.  I didn't want to cause any bad reactions with the Clomid with the other stuff, and I knew these were safe to take with it.***

4.  Pray, pray, and pray some more.  I don't know if meeting with the RE is what we're supposed to be doing right now...I'm having conflicting feelings.  I just need to pray about it, and have some guidance.

Now, as for my dear friend Clomid...I believe we might have just ended our relationship.  I had no clue that Clomid could cause cysts to be honest (Noah didn't either, and he was in the same consult I was).  If I have a slightly higher chance one month, only to completely ruin my chances the next month, that isn't worth it for me.  Plus, I've just felt like there were a lot of funky things going on with my body that did not feel natural at all...I didn't like that.  I might eat those words when I have no other option than Clomid, but we're definitely going to look into other methods if I'm not pregnant this month.

Needless to say, I feel better than I did Friday!  Thank you guys so much for your sweet comments, advice, and most importantly, your prayers.  I just can't tell y'all how much it means to have such an incredible support system through this blog!

To Add Insult to Injury...

This morning, I had a voicemail on my phone that was only about a second long, and was white noise.  I didn't think much of it, but I knew it might be my ultrasound/bloodwork results, so I just made a mental note to call them when I got a chance for my results.

After my kids left this afternoon, I checked my voicemail again...this was on it:

"Leslie, this is Nurse ___________ with Dr. ___________.  Just wanted to make sure you knew not to take anything this month because of the cysts.  So just rest and call us for blood work and an ultrasound on your next cycle day 1."

Umm excuse me?  WHAT CYSTS?  And because it is Friday, they close at 2.  So I have to sit here with zero answers all weekend, and I'm not even sure we can try this month.

I am just numb at this point.  I feel like if it can go wrong, it has.  My honest gut reaction is to look up at God right now and ask "ANYTHING ELSE???" My life has become the perfect storm.

Does anybody have any experience with this?  It has to be the Clomid...I've never had cysts before to my knowledge, and I just don't know what to expect.

What a miserable week.

Week in a Picture

This picture pretty much describes my week.

Negative.  Nothing.  No October baby.

I won't get to dress our sweet baby in a tiny Halloween costume.

I took this test Monday, after getting what I'm pretty sure was a false positive Sunday (line appeared after the 10 minutes, was shaped funny...but it gave me some hope).  So I really knew that this cycle was a bust Monday.  That was a pretty rough night.  I called Noah crying, and he brought me these:

If he's not the best, I don't know who is.

Even though we got the "official" confirmation today, I knew in my heart that we were out for this month with that negative test earlier this week.

I feel broken.  I feel like this month was a complete waste.  All that time, all that money, for nothing.  For me to feel like this today.  And I thought we had everything so perfect.  It honestly just feels like an insult.

I don't really know where we're going from here.  I had my baseline appointment today for another round of Clomid...I'll hear those results tomorrow.  I'm sure they will tell me everything's normal, like they always do.

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but everything is NOT normal, and I'm starting to get tired of hearing it is.

If it were, I'd be either 6 months or 3 months pregnant right now.
