Kelly is doing schedules this week, and I thought it was pretty good timing....my schedule just changed pretty drastically! I took over the extended day program at my school this week, so things are getting pretty crazy. For example, here was my schedule yesterday!
6:15 Wake up, check email
6:30 Shower, get ready
7:15 Grab a quick breakfast, out the door
7:40 Arrive at school. I usually sit down for a minute or two, then pick up my kids at 8:00.
8:00-8:30 Kids do morning work, I am usually checking folders, answering email, taking roll, or receipting money.
8:30 - 9:15 Kids go to PE. I get everything ready for the day, and plan/grade papers if I have time. This is sometimes the only break I have before 2:30, so I have to use it pretty wisely!
9:15 Pick up the kids, take them by the restroom
9:30 - 10:30 Reading block (just on Wednesdays...usually it is until 11). This is usually a mix of whole group lessons and small group time. I am teaching pretty much the entire time!
10:30 - 11:10 - Spanish. This is another break I have built in during the week...we usually get a 30-40 minute break besides PE every day (Thursday is my only day without a break). We are really lucky - some schools only get a 30 minute PE break a day, and that's it!
11:10 - 11:35 Get ready for lunch, get kids to the lunchroom and help them get their plates fixed. At some point, I scarf down a PB&J and cup of yogurt (every single day). We have to sit with our kids, so I am usually managing at that point too. :)
11:35-11:45 Bathroom Break for kids
11:45 - 12:30 Do whatever's left from reading and writing. While most kids are writing, I'm doing small group lessons.
12:30 - 1:30 Math...once again, mix of whole group and small group, and I'm teaching the vast majority of the time.
1:30 - 2:10 (ish) - Science. We're doing plants this week, so I did read a book on plants and we planted our own veggie seeds!
2:10 - 2:25 Snack, Pack Up, and Leave
2:30 - 3:05 I happen to have late car rider duty this week, so I help kids into cars, manage the crowd while they're waiting, and call parents when they aren't there.
3:05 - 5:30 Extended Day. There really isn't teaching involved....I'm mostly just watching the kids, making sure they have something to do, and helping with homework.
5:30-5:45 Clean up (my room and extended day room), head home.
6:15 - I FINALLY get a break. :) Dinner, check my email, talk to Noah, watch TV.
7:30 - Get back to work...blogs this time. I usually do three blogs during the week, plus any miscellaneous projects. I work on Wednesday nights (which I think is about to change to Tuesday) and during the weekend. I've actually got it pretty well planned out...if I start the blogs during the week, it takes me about 2 hours on Wednesday night and about 4 during the weekend. I was just EXHAUSTED last night though, so only worked for about an hour...so I'll be working tonight too!
9:30 Bed time!
So, needless to say, my days are packed full. :) It's all for a very good reason, I know that (and sometimes have to tell myself that over and over throughout the day...). :)
