Remember those vegetable plants I was going to try to grow? Here's what they looked like this weekend, a little over a month after planting.
Apparently, I did something wrong.
So I broke down, realized I was a newbie gardener (and obviously not a very good one), and bought one of these kits at Home Depot yesterday.
It has the soil, seeds, fertilizer...everything you need! These super cool little pellets go from this
to this
when you put water on them. How cool!
So I planted lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, beans, cilantro, oregano, basil, squash, and a couple of other things yesterday. We shall see...I'm not getting my hopes up, because it's crystal clear that I'm not too good at this, but it would be nice!

Thanks for all of the suggestions on cabbage the other day! I ended up using pretty much all of it in a really good soup that I made...here's the recipe!
1 large head cabbage
10 cups chicken broth (I use bullion...it's cheaper, and you don't have to store tons of cans of chicken broth!)
1 pack carrots
1 lb. ground beef, browned
Throw all of that into the Crock Pot and let it cook on high for 6 hours, then low for another 4 hours.
Noah said it was really good! However, I won't have the chance to find out...I left the unplugged Crock Pot on the counter overnight. Whoopsies.
