Tips Tuesday - Cooking Tips

(Sorry I'm late - I'll have it Monday night/Tuesday morning next week!)

I just LOVE cooking!  I always have.  There's something about creating something (especially from scratch) that is just so rewarding.  Plus, I love food, so that doesn't hurt the situation. :)

Here are a few cooking tips for busy girls (or guys) I've learned over the years!

-Cook in bulk.  This has been a lifesaver since I've been working.  For a normal recipe, double it.  You can either eat the same thing for a few days (5 days is usually our limit - after that it can go bad), or freeze half of it to eat later.  SUCH a time saver!

-Keep a few staple items around your house.  I keep lots of different spices, some kind of canned tomato, pasta, my frozen meat (I buy in bulk), and some kind of cheese at all times.  With all of those things, you can almost always fix a new and creative meal!

-Sort of an extension of above - need it twice, cook it once.  For example, I fix a roasted rosemary potato (sort of like home fries) that I cook in bulk.  I make 10 pounds worth of them, bag them in gallon-size freezer bags, and pop in the freezer.  You'll never buy pre-made again (unless you find it for a STEAL at the grocery store :)  ).

-Have a few signature recipes that you can change up.  I have a tomato sauce/pasta recipe, a chicken pot pie recipe (courtesy of my mother-in-law), and a chicken casserole recipe (courtesy of my mom) that I use at least once a month.  That way, you won't have to look up a recipe and you can freeze dishes!

Alright, I can't wait to hear your cooking tips!  Have a awesome recipe you want to share?  Have a secret to great cooking?  Link up here so we can all steal your ideas! :)
