Groceries - Week of January 6th

Alright, so you know how I had that New Year's Resolution to not spend over $25 on groceries each week?  TOTALLY broke it this week.  Partly because I left a Crock Pot full of chili on the counter Wednesday night (thus having to spend $16 on groceries that I won't even discuss here to replace it), and partly because I was doing the I-Need-It-This-Week thing again.

So I've come up with a way to keep the resolution even if I go over one week.  If I spend $25 or more in a week, I don't even go to the grocery store the next week.  If I don't have something I need, tough - I figure out how to live without it.  I figure that should break me of spending too much really quick!

So, all in all this week (not counting that emergency $16 chili run Thursday morning), I spent $33.53 for $83.42 worth of groceries - for a 60% savings!

Here's what I got:

8 Bags Lender's Bagels - Normally $2 each, on sale for $1 each, had 2 $1/2 coupons - $6 total

4 Boxes Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Pasta - Normally $1.79 each, on sale for B1G1 Free, had 2 $1/2 coupons - $1.58 for 4 boxes

Publix Bread - $1.17

Publix Sugar - $2.49

Publix Coffee Filters - $1.29

Publix White Corn Tortilla Chips - Normally $2.59, penny item this week

Publix Chili Seasoning - $0.49

Daisy Sour Cream - Normally $1.99, had a 50 cents/1 coupon (which doubled) - $1

3 Benevia Juices - Normally $8.49 each, had 3 $4/1 coupons and 3 $1/1 coupons - $10.47 total (I thought the $1/1 coupons were $5/1 coupons...wouldn't have bought them if I had actually looked at the coupon first!  Oh well...)

1 Carton Southwestern Egg Beaters - Normally $2.79 each, on sale for $1.40 each, had $1/1 coupon - 40 cents total

2 Boxes Kellogg's Special K Bars - Normally $3.19 each, on sale for $1.59 each, had $1/2 coupon - $2.19 for 2 boxes

2 Bottles John Freida Volume Shampoo/Conditioner - Normally $4.50 each, on sale for $3.50 each, had 2 $2.50/1 coupons - $2 total for both bottles

Louisiana Hot Sauce - $1.69

1 Green Bell Pepper - Normally $1.11, on sale for $0.83

So no post next week...I'm punishing myself for spending too much last week. :)

I hopped over from Ashley's blog- and wanted to say hi! I may be in need of a new blog design soon, so I will definitely keep you in mind!

I love how much you saved (my favorite is the pasta- it's a 2x a wk thing in our house)! I so wish I could be that organized- it's just so hard with a year and half old! Have a good week!

I'd love to know what kind of meals you cook with these kind of groceries. I think it would be hard for me to do this because I plan what I'm going to eat and then buy what I need from that. So, I'm curious how you plan meals! I really need to do what your doing because I spend WAY too much every week on groceries!
