I've been thinking about my new year's resolutions a lot lately, more than I normally do. I guess there's just so much purpose to my life right now, and I feel like I need to be productive NOW, rather than later.
Here's what I've got in mind for 2010!
- Lose weight. I know, cliche, but I really need to, and this is the best time...everybody else is trying to lose weight, so there's a lot of motivation and group accountability. I want to lose 15 pounds by May...I don't think that's anything too extreme! I am TERRIBLE at dieting, so I'm not even going to try that. If I can portion control, limit sweets, and actually work out (I have a gym membership I haven't used since like July), I think I can do it.
- Keep my house clean. Since starting my job, I have been really bad about cleaning during the week. It's hard to come home after chasing 6 year olds all day and clean! So, I've been reading a lot of flylady's stuff lately and I think that is the best approach - but I am changing it a little bit for my style. I am going to clean/declutter for 15 minutes a day, not matter what. Then, I'll have a "zone" for every day (read flylady for more info). She does a zone a week, but my house would be disgusting if I only cleaned a room once a month. If I have it figured out right, it shouldn't take me more than 30 minutes a day, and my house won't be an absolute mess by Friday afternoon now!
- Get back in church. I'll be the first to admit, we have been really bad about going to church lately. Part of it is the fact that we've been traveling a lot lately, part of it is my laziness when the weekend comes around. Not an excuse, just a reason. I'd like to start going every Sunday (I think that's a reasonable goal), and maybe even get involved in a Sunday School class...it's something we've been meaning to do for awhile now!
- Start living entirely off of Noah's income. We have been, for the most part, but there are still times that we have to rely on mine for something that really isn't even that necessary (trips out of town, eating at restaurants). I'd like for my income to go totally toward debt/savings, and his to pay the bills. We'll see how that works out! :)
I've got a couple more that I don't want to share just yet, but you'll find out eventually...I promise! :)
It's going to be a great 2010!
PS - I updated my Q and A post from yesterday with a new question...check it out!

OMG! How did I not know about Flylady 'til now?! :) Thanks for sharing and good luck with your resolutions. We have many of the same.
One of my resolutions is for us to live off of Keith's salary. I am determined that I want to stay home with my little girl again next school year, so we'll see how it goes! :)
Those are great resolutions! I posted mine yesterday :)
I love FLYlady and have her book works very great around here---but when we are running the kids for after school activities it gets hard! Can't wait to see what else you have to share with us:) Happy New Year!
I love flylady! I will admit, her lists seemed daunting, so instead I just picked a few things to do every day and made some days easier than others because of faculty meetings, etc. I basically do not clean on the weekends, which is great! You can do it, keeping a list out helped me a lot the first few weeks so that I held myself responsible and checked them off as I went...but now I just know it!
I too did not know about Flylady until reading your post! Thank-you so much!! I like you will modify a bit. Good luck in 2010 and if you need meal ideas pop by mamabirdsnest(at)blogspot(dot)com

All very worthy goals and I agree with many of them for myself :) I wish you the best with getting back in church and being involved. Our church is such a wonderful blessing and it's a great part of my life - so important! I haven't checked in on the FlyLady in SO long...thanks for the mention, I'll check it out. Also (and unrelated) - congrats to your Crimson Tide. I'm a Texas girl so it was a painful night, but hooray for you!
Great resolutions! I love flylady! My kitchen sink has never been so shiny!!
