Groceries - November 11th

I know, I know...I said I wasn't going to the grocery store this week.  There were just several deals that I couldn't pass up...I'm talking FREE or REALLY cheap!!  Here's what I got:

2 Packs Chinet Napkins - Normally $1.89 each, on sale for 95 cents each, had 2 coupons for $1/1 Chinet product - 10 cents overage!!

4 Boxes Green Giant Frozen Veggies - Normally $1.66 each, on sale for 99 cents each, had 2 $1/1 coupons and 1 $1/2 coupons - $1 for 4 boxes

3 Packs Yoplait Yoplus Yogurt - Normally $2.50 each, on sale for $1.25 each, had 3 coupons for $1/1...75 cents for 3 4-packs

1 bottle Coffee Mate - Normally $3.79 each, on sale for $2.50 each, had a coupon for $1/1...$1.50 total

4 Glade Candles - Normally $3.49 each, on sale for $1.75 each, had 2 coupons for $1.50/2...$4 for 4 candles (and I have a $5 rebate when you buy 3 Glade Products...so MONEY MAKER!!)

2 Progresso Soups - Normally $2.29 each, on sale for $1.15 each, had a coupon for 50 cents off 2 (which doubled) - $1.29 for 2 cans

3 jars Betty Crocker Frosting - Normally $1.89 each, on sale for 95 cents each, had 3 coupons for $1/1...15 cent overage!

Campbell's Cream of Chicken Soup - Normally $1.66 each, on sale for 80 cents (no coupons, but that's a GOOD deal on Campbell's Soup!)

That's $47 worth of groceries for $9 (pretax) - AND I have a $5 rebate to send in now!

I had someone ask last week if we really eat everything I buy...the answer is yes and no.  I don't EVER buy anything that I know we won't use unless it gets me an overage (or discount beyond the actual price of the product that will take off of another product).  Even then, I won't buy it if it's just going to take up space in my kitchen...there has to be some way for me to use it for me to get it.  You have to get sort of creative sometimes, but there IS a way to use everything you buy!  You also have to anticipate weeks that will have better deals than other weeks.  Once you kind of get stockpiled, you can take weeks off from shopping here and there that aren't as good of a deal.

Now, obviously, I won't use everything I buy, just like you probably won't use everything you buy at the grocery store...that's just part of it.  I was actually talking to Noah about this a couple of weeks ago...I am going to start donating to local food banks what I know I won't use.  It feels even better knowing I am doing this (partly, at least) for a good cause...and I'd encourage anyone that bargain shops like this to do the same! :)

I have thought about the same thing--knox gelatin, never going to use but it makes me $3 every time I buy it...so that will go to food banks, also all the cans that I just don't NEED---there are lots of opportunities to help, especially around the holidays!
