I'm actually kind of glad Kelly did this one right now... I've got several friends that are pregnant, and I'm sure I'll be planning a baby shower or two in the next year!
I've always liked the idea of a funkier tea, instead of one of those over-cutesified baby showers.
Reason 1: I'm from the south, where you've got to have a good tea every once in a while.
Reason 2: Most of the people there are women, not babies. Yes, there will be a baby in a couple of months, but celebrate being a woman, with a little touch of baby thrown in!
These invitations are super cute...
And maybe a big, girly, delicious cake!

And, another Southern thing (I think)...petit fours! Oh how I love me a good petit four. Something to coordinate with the cake.

And here's another thought...why not do a girl's night out as a baby shower? After all, the mom-to-be might not be able to have one of those for a while, so treat her! You could even do a spa day.
Can you tell I'm thinking blog-style? Can you also tell I've thought about this before? :)
I'm a planner, I can't help it.

I agree! I love doing tea parties for the mom to be!
Oh my, I absolutely love that cake!
I agree with you. I actually saw on another blog where the women did a girls night out AFTER the baby was born...so it was a night for them to celebrate with cocktails, etc after baby. I thought that was fun, too!
That cakes it fabulous! Forget the shower I want that cake at my next b-day, too fun! We actually used the same paper you posted for our invites. A family member came up with a really cute poem about the new baby and carriages, thus baby carriages became the theme of the shower.
