My Wedding Dress

I just loved my wedding dress. :)

While I did go try on dresses locally, that's really not how I found it. When I started planning my wedding, I found this dress in a couple of those theknot.com postings and fell in LOVE with it. I asked around and found out the only place that carried this dress was 3 hours away, at The Something Blue Shoppe in Hartselle, AL. I would HIGHLY recommend this shop if you're in driving distance! They are the one of the oldest bridal shops in Alabama and they are extremely professional. They also have a really great selection, and if you get your dress from there, you get a discount on invitations!

It was a little difficult to get on because it was SO heavy and bulky. We weighed it later and figured out it was 20-30 pounds! Imagine carrying that around for a day. :)

Excited it was finally on! :)

The train was really long. My veil was custom made to match the length of the train!

The buttons didn't actually come on the dress - I had them added in alterations. I also had a bow taken off the front of the satin sash (just wasn't wild about it).

Warning if you want a big, poofy dress though: I did a lot of dancing at my reception, and the crinoline underneath the dress was torn to PIECES by the end of the night. I was basically dragging it around. You might want to see if you can get the removable kind and take it off for dancing!

(Excuse my hot messiness in this picture...but you can really see where it tore.)

All in all though - it held up beautifully! I still wouldn't trade this dress for a $10,000 one. :)
