...And it was such a great day :)
I got some pictures with some fabulous friends this morning before the actual ceremony. Together, we have been through so much over the past few years, and I don't know what I'd do without them! (By the way, I think it's funny that at least one of us is not ready in every single one of these pictures. It was WAAAAY too hot and humid out there, which will make you kind of spacey...)
I'll be honest, the actual ceremony was not the most riveting thing I've ever sat through. We don't have a speaker, because the one a couple of years ago got booed for sharing some rather controversial political views. So you just basically walk out and start the actual graduation process. I wasn't complaining though, it made it end quicker!
I've had this fear since I started college that I was going to be the girl to trip and fall right into Robert Witt. So, needless to say, I was a bit nervous. I've always had really bad stage fright (which is ironic, because I danced competitively until I graduated high school and I went into a profession where you have to be observed all the time). But everything went great!
Alabama normally has graduation in Bryant-Denny (our football stadium), but it is currently being renovated. Not complaining AT ALL about that...it was some kind of hot today, and that would have been miserable! Noah tried to get some pictures, but they were in a dark part of Coleman Coliseum, so they turned out really dark and/or blurry. I wish I had my new camera in (I just ordered a Nikon D40...it's supposed to be in Tuesday, just in time for the cruise). They always take pictures of the graduates shaking the president's hand, so I should get those in a few weeks.
And...sidenote...did you know that you don't actually get your diploma when you graduate?? They have to calculate all of your grades before they can give you that. All I got today was a "certificate of participation"...that's literally what they called it. Haha!
My funny brothers! They decided they wanted to wear some of the gear too!
My favorite picture of the day :)
Noah got me very pretty daisies for graduation, but they sat in a 100 degree car all day and died. Sad, I know.
BUT...he bought them from a local battered women's shelter's fundraiser, so most of what he paid for them went towards that cause. That just makes me feel good, so I really don't care that they died! He got the same thing for his mom for mother's day...isn't that a great idea??
I have been thinking a lot about what I want to say for mother's day, so I'll put that up tomorrow. For now, I'm going spend this stormy Alabama night watching a movie with my sweet hubby and puppy!
